Bringing "Esperanza" to those in need.

March 11, 2011 a devestating earthquake suddenly occured in Japan. I remember the day after this earhquake, as i was getting ready for school i desided to turn on the tv which is rare that i would do so in the mornings. When i first saw the news of this natural disasters flashbacks suddenly came to my mine. I have personnaly experienced a few earthquakes in the country where i come from, and i know how it feels to be afraid of going to sleep hoping that another one wouldnt occur in the same day. It is evident that a natural disaster like this has major effects, people die of no shelter or no food. All these flashbacks that came into my mind made me realised the nececity this country would experience therefore i felt responsible to come up with a way to help them in their time of need. This same day, i remember going straight to my friends to propose the idea of making hats and raised money for Japan. It was a bit challenging i must say with the fact that we needed to get the materials to make them; however we managed to do so and paid for the materials ourselves.
The process for this event took several days to get all hats done. I personally spent my entire spring break working in making these hats along with my parents and i must say i do not regret it at all. In fact it felt extremely good to do something productive instead of nothing that entire week. At first it was only supposed to be around 20 hats; however at the end we managed to make around 30! The hat sale went extremely well, we obtained a good response from everybody in school. Due to this commitment that me and my friends made, we were able to raise around $340 towards the Japan relief fund. Its not much but we think it would deffenetly make a big difference and to be honest we were happy to do it.
